Home on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii

The postcard-worthy views from this house on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, aren’t the only thing worth touting. The home on Hawaii’s third largest island is also saving energy by using LED lights.

The home is outfitted with 75 Luxvee LR6 six-inch downlights, which deliver the warm light of an incandescent and double the performance of a CFL fixture. The lights were installed by Archipelago Hawaii. President Rick Cowan says he’s a big fan of the LR6 and that his residential clients are impressed with the quality of light, clean looks and energy efficiency that come from the LED lights.

Rick says the LR6 seems to spread out more evenly in a space and delivers a more uniform and full light for a kitchen or family room. And the energy savings are remarkable. The LR6 LED light consumes 10.5 Watts of energy, but delivers the same light as a 65 W incandescent bulb.
